About the Producer: Asproguate was founded in 2014 by a group of 100 organized coffee producers located in the Coban, Acatenango & Chimaltenango regions with the purpose to sell quality coffees grown with organic practices. Soon, other producers in nearby areas heard about the project’s success and joined the Association. In 2016 Asproguate opened their headquarters in San Martín Jilotepeque. Asproguate is strongly committed to their organic, environmental, and social practices. The majority of its producers belong to Cakchiquel & Tzutujjil ethnicity and are organic coffee producers.
Asproguate has conducted its own efforts with women farmers, working closely with women producers from the regions of San Martin Jilotepeque and Atitlan and two villages in the municipality of San Juan la Laguna. In 2019, they created the Fuerza de Mujer group and a project to strengthen women's business development.
